John David Hamilton
John David Hamilton passed away peacefully on the morning of February 27, 2024 at the age of 68. John was a kind-hearted and generous soul; he asked for so little but gave so very much.
John was born on February 3, 1956 to Robert and Vera Hamilton (Learn). He grew up in Fort Erie, Ontario and was a pillar of his community: John served two terms on town council, was member of the Fort Erie Jaycees and in 1983 became the founder and president of Frontier Distributing, a respected employer of over 30 staff for whom he cared greatly.
A private pilot, John had a passion for aviation and could often be found enjoying time in the skies or surrounded by friends at a local airfield. John enjoyed camping, woodworking, curling and vintage British cars. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren.
John is survived by his spouse, Trish, his children Alexander (Brittany) and Matthew (Siobhan), and step-children Michael (Natalie), Nicole (Marcus), Matthew (Christina) and Stephanie. His sisters, Cathie (Peter), Laurie (Dave) and Wendy (Randy), and his grandchildren Finn and Félix and step-grandchildren Scottie, Sloane, Benjamin, Lucy, Jack and Noah.
John is predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert and his brother-in-law Jim Fyke.
A celebration of life will be held for John (details to follow). John had requested that his interment be private.
Memorial donations can be made to COPE Niagara, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Greater Fort Erie Minor Hockey Association.
