Elbert Doornekamp

Passed away peacefully with Alta by his side at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Sunday September 15th at the age of 83.

Much loved husband of Alta Near-Doornekamp. He will be remembered by his daughter- in -law Kim Doornekamp and grandson Tyler and daughter Charlene (Boe) Robinson and grandchildren Morgan and Ethan. He is survived by his brothers Lubbert (Sharon), Raymond (Maria) and sisters Irene Seaton, Sara (Jerry) Mathes and many nieces and nephews. Elbert will be very much missed by his step family Kate (Jim) Ball, Michael Near, Monica (Rob) Edwards and their families. He is predeceased by his parents Sara and Elbert, sister Arendje (in Holland) and Son Elbert Jr.

Elbert was born in Nijkerk Holland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1952. He was a long standing member of the Ridgeway Lions proudly serving in many capacities and was awarded the Order of Niagara in 2016 in recognition of service to St. John's Anglican church Ridgemount.

Passages - End of Life Services, 241 Ridge Rd. N, Ridgeway, ON has been entrusted with Elbert's care and Cremation has taken place . A funeral service will be held at St John's Anglican Church Ridgemount 2251 Ridgemount Rd Stevensville on Saturday September 21st at 12pm followed by a light luncheon in the church hall. 

The Lions members will meet for a service at 1130am at the church. Memorial donations can be made to St John's Anglican Church Ridgemount or the Ridgeway Lions.
